We have baby furniture!

Our cribs and changer came in yesterday so we drove to North Charleston last night to pick it up. We were up until midnight putting the cribs together. Ok, so Neal did most of the work but I stayed up too.

The nursery is coming together, slowly but surely!

We don't have an update yet on when we are traveling. Honestly, I hope we don't get an update for at least another week - and I'll take two. We just aren't ready yet - we still have so much to do before they get here.

I have to send a shout out to my very good friend Lauren. She and my mother in law are hosting my baby shower and I got the invitation in the mail yesterday (which Lauren designed). I LOVE it! It's very cool - and matches the colors in the nursery exactly. It's definitely a great keepsake.

The Nursery......

Well, there's not much there yet. But there ARE circles, lots of them. I did two walls, the one you see here, and the one opposite. Beyond that, I really don't know what I'm going to do. Right now, I guess just wait for the furniture to get here so we can put it together. I'm hoping it'll be here by next weekend so we at least have someplace for the babies to sleep!

Medical Update!

We got another medical update today - I'm so thrilled that we've gotten so many pictures of Alex and Andi. They are wearing clothes that we left with them. He is getting to be bigger than she is - she weighs 16 lbs 1 oz and he weighs 16 lbs 11 oz. They are doing great!

PRAISE GOD, WE ARE OUT OF PGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe it....I am sitting here just in shock right now. We are so unprepared! I literally JUST got off the phone to order cribs. LOL But that's ok, we'll figure it out.

Our agency anticipates that we'll be going to pick up Alex and Andi mid-July. Thanks so much to everyone for your prayers and thoughts, they are very much appreciated!

What happens in PGN?

The truth is, no one really knows. We, as prospective adoptive parents, can speculate all we want and add to the rumor mill, but we have absolutely no idea what happens to our file while it's in the PGN black hole. Every one of us that is adopting from Guatemala knows that the whole thing is a crapshoot. What I have gathered is that there are at least 3, maybe 4 people that review our file before approval. Any one of those reviewers (including the big guy, the Director of PGN) can kick our file out of PGN at any time for any reason. Missing documents that are there (yes, that happens, too much), missing birth mother information, the list goes on. That may happen at week 1, it could happen at week 10.

Then what? Well, if you're lucky, it's an easy fix and your file goes right back in, within a few days. If it's not an easy fix, it could be weeks before it goes back in. And do you think that just because your file has been kicked out that you get to go to the front of the pile? Hmmmm, not so much. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. That's part of the whole crapshoot thing. You just have absolutely no idea and no control over any of it.

With that being said, I would appreciate any and all prayers/thoughts for us to have a quick out! We're in two weeks as of today. I think - I still don't actually have confirmation of that but I am thinking positive here.
